Flame the Claims

In Response to: Evolution

If the music of the past, specifically The Medieval Period, has caused an influence on today’s music then why is there no “wholesome” music anymore?  The Medieval Period introduced the world to the Gospel genre if these periods had such a great influence as the claim states then perhaps every artist would be creating Gospel songs and albums.  The music world would be butterflies and rainbows; no derogatory terms, no profanity, less negative influence on teens. I don’t think that has ever been possible.

In Response to: Genre

I am one of those who stand by genre-based emotions.  Being a college student, I have a rollercoaster of emotions at times.  When I’m walking on campus I’m always listening to some sort of music, Lana Del Rey when I’m sad and the latest Katy Perry pop song when I’m happy.  I’m not a huge fan of rap, I feel like its a little too violent and demeaning to me as a woman. I wish rap were like the old classical melodies I listen to at times, much more calming and relatable.

In Response to Societal Culture

I’m a young listener, and music doesn’t cause me to go out and commit crazy crimes.  I mean sometimes I find myself daydreaming about doing things I could (probably) never see myself doing when I’m listening to Lil Uzi and Lil Pump.  For me, music is my safe space, I know a lot of people think that rap is bad, but if you give it a chance it can make you feel like the highest in the room.
